Ben graduated from the University of Manchester in 2022, where he obtained a first class degree in music, was awarded the Hargreaves prize for dissertation, and was one of the winners of the concerto competition. He is also an alumnus of the Royal Northern College of Music where he studied for a masters with Ben Powell, thanks to support from the Ian Scott award. He is currently Junior Fellow in Accompaniment at the RNCM.
Ben enjoys a varied freelance career, which has recently involved working with the likes of Manchester Camerata, the Hallé Choirs, NEW Sinfonia, Northern Film Orchestra, International Film Orchestra, Kantos Chamber Choir, Manchester Chamber Choir, the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, Arden School of Theatre, Huddersfield Choral Society, and Chetham's School of Music. He has appeared in recordings broadcast on Classic FM and BBC radio, as well as in the Paramount+ series A Gentleman In Moscow as a hand double.
An experienced ensemble musician, Ben has been a collaborative pianist for Conservatoire/University recitals, BBC Young Musician of the Year, the National Eisteddfod of Wales, and ABRSM exams from grade 1 up to diploma level, covering a wide variety of repertoire. Orchestral highlights have included performances of Stravinsky's Petrushka, music from the Harry Potter films, Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, and Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians, as well as concerto performances of Gershwin, Ireland, Shostakovich, and Beethoven.
Whilst studying, Ben took part in masterclasses with Sir Stephen Hough, Roger Vignoles, Martin Roscoe, Penelope Roskell, the Quatuor Danel, and Huw Watkins.
